Utah State Representative Mike Noel

Mike Noel on the ranch near his home in Kane County
"Dedicated to multiple uses for public lands, which is the key to maintaining a healthy and prosperous agricultural, small business, tourist and resource-based economy in southern Utah."
Dear Constituents and Friends:
Welcome to my website. My primary purpose in creating this site is to better serve my constituents in District #73.
Your ideas are important to me as I work for you in state government. I can’t believe how rapidly the past three legislative sessions have passed into the sunset.
While we are just starting on the new 2006 forty-five session, I know that it too will be over in the blink of an eye. Hopefully this new website will allow you to contact me on a regular basis and in turn I can provide answer to your questions regarding legislation that has the ability to impact your lives.
My View of the Role of State Government:
Over the past three years my emphasis in State Government has been to:
1. Never raise your taxes
2. Not grow government beyond those increases needed to meet population growth
3. Keep the government out of your personal lives as much as possible by giving you, the citizen, the opportunity to exercise your free agency to prosper in a free market economy without the burdens of excessive laws and regulations
4. Try to reduce the negative impacts of federal land ownership in our state on your lives by fighting to keep our public lands open and accessible and by promoting the multiple use and sustained yield of public lands as provided for in federal law
5.Support the great public education and higher education programs in our state while providing parents with the opportunity to make personal choices as to how and where their children are educated
6. Protect small business, agricultural producers and manufacturing from excessive government intrusions including over-reaching environmental regulations
7. Work closely with other elected officials in District #73 to promote good government
Effectiveness:
I am presently serving on the Legislative Natural Resources, Agricultural, and Environment Appropriations Committee. I am the vice chairman of the Natural Resources Agriculture, and Environment, Standing Committee and I also serve on the House Public Utilities and Technology Standing Committee. In 2005 I was appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives to serve on the Public Lands Policy and Coordination Counsel along with the Lt. Governor Herbert, Public Lands Coordinator Director Lynn Stevens, Utah State Lands Director Kevin Carter, Senator Beverly Evans, Garfield County Commissioner Maloy Dodds, Millard County Commissioner John Cooper and representative attorneys from the Utah AG’s office. My appointment to this committee by the Speaker of the House has allowed me to be on the front lines of any public lands issues that impact the citizens of the state of Utah.
I believe that I have been effective in representing you and in fulfilling my responsibilities as the State Representative of the largest district in the State of Utah. After the 2005 session, newly elected Governor John Huntsman Jr. chose several bills to highlight in signing ceremonies around the state. I was pleased that the Governor flew to Kanab and signed my public lands policy bill, agricultural board bill, and a resolution urging congress to not initiate any new nuclear testing at the Nevada Test Site.
My objective in introducing legislation is to make government work more efficiently and effectively for the citizens of my district and state. Thank you for your past votes and thank you for the opportunity to serve you in the House of Representatives.
Please feel free to contact me with any issues or concerns. Email from this site is the best way to do that, but I always welcome a call from a constituent.
Sincerely,
Michael Noel
