House District #73 Constituents Voice their Opinions

During the second week of the 2006 legislative session, I conducted a survey of constituents on 10 key legislative issues. The survey was mailed to the homes of 2600 people in my district who had voted in the last two general elections. This was done to enhance a greater degree of return and participation. There were just over 200 surveys returned.
The questions on the survey relate to many of the actual questions and issues that have been and are being addressed currently at the state capitol this legislative session. These issues may play large roles in the lives of Utahs citizens, including those in my district. Many of the questions relate to the 1.1 billion dollar surplus that the state has projected this year, and how the money should be spent or if it should be returned to the tax-payers.
The budget and taxation are the two most important things we do in the yearly session. It is important to know how my constituents feel about these and other important issues that we are voting on this year. The results may surprise you considering how similar surveys in the Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret News played out.
The results of the survey are here:
